Iran has dismissed new U.N. sanctions aimed at halting the country’s controversial nuclear program.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the resolution adopted by the U.N. Security Council Wednesday is of no value. Iran’s ambassador to the U.N. nuclear agency, Ali Asghar Soltanieh, insisted Iran will go ahead with its uranium enrichment activities.
Twelve of the Security Council‘s 15 members voted for the resolution, while Brazil and Turkey voted “no” and Lebanon abstained.
